Overview of Analytical Methods in Nanophotonics
March 28th, 2017 JAVIER GARCÍA DE ABAJO Nanophotonics Theory
ICFO-The Institute of Photonic Sciences

We will discuss simple analytical tools that help us model and understand the behavior of light in materials that are structured on small scales compared with the free-space wavelength. We will start by reviewing some of the concepts examined in the last edition of the course (classical electromagnetic relations, linear response theory, optical interaction of atoms with nanostructures) and then proceed with new topics, including periodic arrays, optical forces, and electron beams.
