Markovian Embedding Strategies, Strong Coupling Thermodynamics, and Linear Response

This talk gives a survey of recent advances to understand the dynamics of open quantum systems within the paradigm of the Caldeira-Leggett model (a system linearly coupled to a harmonic bath). I will focus on three (somewhat related) subjects: Markovian embedding strategies (or "reaction coordinate mappings") allowing to simulate non-Markovian dynamics in a Markovian way in suitable larger space. The use of the former method to overcome the traditional weak coupling assumption in quantum thermodynamics. A simple approach (orthogonal to commonly used approaches) to quantify non-Markovianity via linear response theory.
