Description of Activities:

The main goal of this project is to search for applications of quantum information concepts and techniques beyond quantum information theory. It is now clear that quantum information theory has changed the way we understand quantum physics, so we expect this new insight is potentially useful in any research field dealing with quantum effects.

Research objectives for this part are:

  1. understand thermodynamic processes in the quantum regime. This goes from small quantum systems composed of few particles, to big quantum systems in the thermodynamic limit,
  2. application of quantum information ideas to foundations of quantum physics, such as the use of information principles to understand which correlations are possible within the quantum regime,
  3. explore the use of quantum information techniques for the simulation of many-body systems.
