ICFO Statement Against Racism

ICFO condemns prejudice, violence, racism and discrimination in all its forms. We join our colleagues around the world in saying that Black Lives Matter.

We believe that everyone deserves the same opportunity to contribute to and benefit from scientific discovery.

Science has an enormous capacity to bring people together to solve common problems. It also suffers from systemic biases, including both deliberate and unwitting racial discrimination. We must all strive to understand and correct these injustices.

ICFO is fully committed to increasing diversity, learning from our colleagues and improving our practices. The scope of our Gender Committee includes diversity and inclusion, with the mandate to address discrimination and bias, and create an inclusive environment where all staff, and students can thrive, and fully participate in all our activities.

ICFO supports diversity in all forms, and stands against racism and discrimination not only in Science but in all human activities. An important new initiative in that direction will be announced shortly.
