Caixa Manresa establishes a chair at ICFO
A program-chair by the name Ignacio Cirac-Caixa Manresa established at ICFO.

This Tuesday, July 31st an agreement for the establishment of a program-chair by the name Ignacio Cirac-Caixa Manresa, intended to promote top level research in the targeted area of quantum information science and technology, has been signed at the Department of Economy and Finances of the Government of Catalonia.
The event has been hosted by Hble Antoni Castells, Minister for Economy and Finances, Regional Government of Catalonia. The chair has been established by an agreement set by the President of Caixa Manresa, Mr Valentí Roqueta, ICFO Director, Mr Lluis Torner, and Mr Ignacio Cirac, Director in the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics in Munich, Germany, distinguished invited professor at ICFO, and recipient of the 2006 Principe de Asturias award. Mr Adolf Todó, Caixa de Manresa Director General, and Ms Marta Lacambra, Director of the Caixa de Manresa Foundation, participated in the event too.
Caixa de Manresa is a savings bank with headquarters in Manresa, a town located in central Catalonia where Dr Ignacio Cirac was born. The Caixa de Manresa Foundation supports social and excellence projects, as well as entrepreneurship among young innovators.
The program-chair aims at promoting research, outreach and dissemination in quantum information science and technology, as well as at promoting entrepreneurship and frontier research at large.
