Infrastructure

The Infrastructure Area ensures that ICFO’s cutting-edge research is supported by world-class facilities, robust services, and future-oriented infrastructure.
Under the leadership of the Chief Infrastructure Officer, this area plays a foundational role in enabling the work of our research groups, technological units, and support teams through strategic planning, operational excellence, and responsive service delivery. Our work encompasses:
· Infrastructure: Overseeing the strategic development and long-term planning of ICFO’s technical and laboratory infrastructure, including buildings, systems, and scientific facilities that meet the evolving needs of the institute’s research and support communities.
· Facilities and Services: Managing essential operational services such as cleaning, internal logistics, maintenance, safety, security, and emergency response to ensure the smooth daily functioning of the institute.
· Workshops and Laboratories: Ensuring the effective operation of ICFO’s mechanical and electronics workshops, as well as its biological and chemical laboratories, to support experimental innovation and prototyping.
· Information Technology: Providing resilient and secure IT services—including computing, software, hardware, and network infrastructure—essential for research, communication, and institutional operations.
· Team and Strategic Leadership: Guiding a high-performing team of professionals and contributing to ICFO’s executive decision-making to align infrastructure and operations with the institute’s strategic priorities.
We work in close coordination with research and administrative teams to ensure that ICFO remains a secure, efficient, and future-ready environment for scientific discovery and institutional success.
