Shedding Light on the Diseased Brain; Optical Probes of Brain Physiology
August 22nd, 2017 TURGUT DURDURAN Medical Optics
ICFO-The Institute of Photonic Sciences

Light can penetrate through tissues and the detected light provides us with information about the tissue physiology. How is that possible? I just tried to see through my friend’s head and it did not work! How much light can actually go through someone’s skull and reach the brain? Can we really learn something medically relevant? But what about scary, big lasers, do you really bring them to the hospital? Can a physicist really work in a hospital? Can you even understand the doctors?
