Fundamental Questions and Real World Applications
June 13th, 2018 MARKUS ASPELMEYER University of Vienna

Vienna is currently hosting more than 150 researchers that share a passion for investigating fundamental questions of modern quantum physics. I will first provide a brief overview of the spectrum of topics that is being investigated at the four local research institutions and their joint doctoral school on Complex Quantum Systems (CoQuS). In the second part I will provide some insight into our current research on quantum optomechanics, on new experiments to probe the gravity-quantum interface, and on unexpected real-world applications directly from the “quantum lab.“
