ICFO joins EPIC and IPCA

The institute joins international organizations that promote commercial applications of Photonics

February 10, 2006
ICFO joined EPIC, the European Photonics Industry Consortium. EPIC is working with industries, universities, and the European Commission to build a more competitive photonics industrial sector in the European area, capable of both economic and technological growth in a highly competitive world-wide marketplace.

ICFO became member of EPIC throughout the PHOREMOST Network of Excellence. Membership in the EPIC Consortium will strengthen the links between ICFO and PHOREMOST researchers, and the European photonic industry. ICFO is leading the "Strategic Impact and Technology Forecasts" workpackage within PHOREMOST.

ICFO also joined IPCA, the recently created International Photonics Commercialization Alliance. IPCA is an alliance of international businesses, photonics clusters, and government organizations based in North America working in the field of photonics. The alliance is a not-for-profit organization whose goal is to act as a hub between businesses, photonic clusters, and technology commercialization centers, internationally, with the mandate of facilitating the commercialization of photonic enabled ideas.
