2019 NJP Early Career Award

The New Journal of Physics, the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft (DPG), and the Institute of Physics (IOP) announce Dr. Alexandre Dauphin as the winner of this prestigious international award.

September 26, 2019

ICFO postdoctoral researcher Dr. Alexandre Dauphin, from the Quantum Optics Theory research group led by ICREA Prof. at ICFO Maciej Lewenstein, has been recently awarded the 2019 NJP Early Career Award, an international prize award given by the New Journal of Physics Editorial Board, the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft (DPG) and the Institute of Physics (IOP).

The New Journal of Physics (NJP) Early Career Award recognises the talents of exceptional young researchers, who are making a significant contribution to their respective field of research. After a rigorous selection, which left a final shortlist of 17 candidates, Alexandre has been selected winner of this year’s edition. The journal has awarded Alexandre for this outstanding performance in the field of quantum simulation, and for being the strongest candidate based on his influential work in the detection of topological insulators in cold atom experiments in optical lattices and in photonics and his impressive contribution to the scientific literature.

The official announcement of the award has been carried out today at the German Physical Society (DPG) Fall meeting. The official ceremony will be held in November of this year, organized by the Institute of Physics (IOP).

Congratulations Alexandre on this outstanding award!
