Caixa Catalunya ICFO Young Minds 2008 Welcome at La Pedrera

Mr. Miquel Perdiguer, General Director of Caixa Catalunya Obra Social welcomes our summer fellows at La Pedrera.

July 25, 2008
Antoni Gaudí’s masterpiece, La Pedrera, was the scenario yesterday of the welcome cocktail organized by Caixa Catalunya Obra Social for Caixa Catalunya - ICFO summer fellows. The Director of the institution, Mr. Miquel Perdiguer, welcomed the 14 awardees of the prestigious scholarship to Barcelona.

“For Caixa Catalunya, the detection and promotion of research talent, inside and outside our borders, is one of the pivotal priorities in our new line of work in R+D+i,” Mr. Perdiguer said. “For this reason, ICFO Summer Fellowships fit in perfectly with the other scientific programs we promote.”

“The summer fellowships represent a fascinating opportunity for young talents,” said ICFO Director, Dr. Lluis Torner. “The program allows them to get in touch with top science at the frontier in our field. Thanks to Caixa Catalunya's visionary support we receive young physicists, engineers, mathematicians, biologists and chemists interested in knowing where the border of knowledge in the ICFO areas of research is.”

At the end of the ceremony, Damián San Roman and Pablo Rosado González expressed their gratitude to Caixa Catalunya and ICFO on behalf of all summer fellows. After the cocktail, the fellows took part in a guided tour of La Pedrera.
