11 December 2012 ICFO in the European Academy of Sciences

The European Academy of Sciences extends membership to Prof. Maciej Lewenstein. The European Academy of Sciences (EURASC) is a non-profit non-governmental, independent organization that rewards excellence in science and technology by electing to its fellowship and honorary membership, the brightest professorial and postdoctoral scientific researchers. The Academy is completely independent of any national entity, with membership extended to holders of citizenship of a country within Europe and persons of any nationality who reside and intend to continue to reside within Europe. This membership in turn furthers the reach of cutting edge scientific research through their commitment to promoting science and technology and their essential roles in fostering social and economic development.

EURASC has elected to its ranks ICREA Professor at ICFO, Maciej Lewenstein. Within the Academy, there are a number of Nobel Laureates including 2012 Nobel Prize in Physics Dr. Serge Haroche, as well as Zhores I. Alferov, Anthony Leggett, David Politzer, Carlo Rubbia, Gerard t\'Hooft, Charles Townes, Daniel Tsui, Frank Wilczek, Ahmed Zewail and other distinguished elected members whose company further illustrates the honour bestowed with this membership.
