20 September 2013 ERC Proof of Concept

Prof. Gerasimos Konstantatos and Prof. Frank Koppens

Frank Koppens and Gerasimos Konstantatos receive funding for ERC Proof-of-Concept study. Nest Fellows Professors Frank Koppens (ERC Starting Grant ’11) and Gerasimos Konstantatos have been awarded a Proof-of-Concept study grant from the European Research Council (ERC) for their project GraQuaDot, which aims to develop novel ultrasensitive imaging sensors based on graphene-quantum dot hybrid technology.

The Proof of Concept funding helps ERC grant-holders bridge the gap between their research and the earliest stage of a marketable innovation and complements the efforts of ICFO’s Knowledge and Technology Transfer Unit (KTT) which proactively searches for ways to translate newly generated knowledge into new technologies. ICFO is proud to have been awarded a Proof-of-Concept award each year since the ERC launched this program in 2011.

Congratulations Frank and Gerasimos on this outstanding award!
