Marc Jofre finalist in the 2013 BioEmprenedorXXI awards. BioEmprenedorXXI is a program created by “la Caixa”, Barcelona Activa and Biocat which aims to support the creation of companies in the life sciences sector (biotech, biomedicine, medical technologies and the agro-alimentary sector). Fourteen entrepreneurs took part in the program, now in its sixth edition, which ran from June through mid-October this year. They received practical training courses in each of the areas of the business plan to validate the feasibility and consistency of their business idea, as well as skills training and personalized mentoring.

Of the participating projects, six have been chosen as finalists and the top three will be recognized with €10,000, €5,000 and €3,000 euros, as well as various training, internationalization, communication and incubation actions. Dr. Marc Jofre, ICFO postdoctoral researcher is one of the finalists who will present ICFO’s SixSenso “pitch” at an awards ceremony to be held on 19 November in Barcelona with representatives of the promoting bodies. The SixSenso project aims to launch a new ICFO Spin-off based on research from the Optoelectronics group led by Prof. Valerio Pruneri. Marc Jofre and Pedro Martinez are working together on the project which includes the development of the first prototypes as well as the business plan. The project is current incubating in the KTT Launchpad.
