Three postdoctoral researchers have joined the Institute Manuel Forcales, María Ujué González and Joel Villatoro have joined Prof. Gonçal Badenes\' group in the Nanophotonics area as post-doctoral researchers.

Dr. Forcales obtained a PhD in Physics at the Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA), in the optoelectronic materials group at the Van der Waals-Zeeman Instituut (WZI) and spent a post-doctoral stay at the Australian National University (ANU) in the electronic materials engineering department.

His research at ICFO will be focused on the development of novel, nanostructured organic light-emitting devices.

Dr. González holds a PhD in Physics from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She developed her thesis research work at the Instituto de Microelectrónica de Madrid, where she worked on stress relaxation aspects during growth of III-V semiconductors. She joins ICFO after completing a post-doc in the University of Burgundy (Dijon, France), focused on plasmonics.

Dr Villatoro after obtaining the PhD in Sciences (Optics) at the National Institute for Astrophysics Optics and Electronics (Puebla, Mexico), completed his post-doc in Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland Oh), the University of Valencia and the Center for Research in Optics (Leon, Mexico).

Both Dr. González and Dr. Villatoro will direct their research activities towards the development optical sensors with enhanced sensitivity for biological applications.
