ICFO Prof Maciej Lewenstein named recipient of prestigious award

The RSEF (Real Sociedad Española de Física) and the Fundación BBVA have announced the winners of the 2017 RSEF Awards which are given annually over eight different categories to candidates with scientific and academic profiles of the highest calibre. The prizes are awarded to scientists and academics who are part of the RSEF community who have distinguished themselves through outstanding contributions to physics and who have actively inspired scientific vocations.
In this year’s edition, the RSEF and Fundación BBVA recognize the efforts of researchers who have incorporated technologies “with the highest transformational potential” in their scientific work.
We proudly congratulations ICREA Professor at ICFO Maciej Lewenstein who has been named the 2017 recipient of the prestigious RSEF - FBBVA Medal. The jury cited Prof. Lewenstein’s leadership in the field of Theoretical Quantum Optics, Quantum Information and Attosecond Physics. In all these fields, he has made seminal contributions and opened new lines of research, potentiating science in Spain and playing an important role in the development of a community in Quantum Technologies.
