National Award for Undergraduate Studies

PhD candidate Javier Argüello recognized for his exceptional undergraduate work in Physics

October 28, 2020

Each year, the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities of the Government of Spain recognizes the exceptional final results of students who have completed their undergraduate studies. The National Awards (Premio Nacional Fin de Carrera) seeks to encourage and recognize academic performance and the culture of merit and excellence in the Spanish university system.

Javier Argüello-Luengo, a PhD candidate and a “la Caixa” Fellow in the Theoretical Quantum- Nano Photonics research group led by ICREA Prof. at ICFO Darrick Chang, finished his undergraduate studies in the 2015-2016 academic year. He is one of just five students in all of Spain to receive first prize based on his academic performance and research merits in the broad area of “Sciences”.

“I had one of my first contacts with research at ICFO in the fourth year of my degree. As a participant in the Summer Fellow’s Program, ICFO played a role in helping me get the most out of my undergraduate experience”, affirms Javier.

We congratulate Javier on this well-earned recognition!
