ICFOnians for La Marató de TV3

La Marató de TV is a unique project promoted annually by Televisió de Catalunya and the Fundació La Marató de TV3 which, since 1992, has enabled Catalans de show their solidarity and raise funds to promote scientific research of excellence and raise social awareness of diseases. In addition to the telethon broadcast by TV3, individuals and institutions throughout Catalonia launch fundraising initiatives for the cause.

This year’s fundraising efforts by la Marató 2021 aim to have an impact on the hopes and quality of life of people with Mental Health conditions. For the Vice-President of the Catalan Media Corporation and of the Board of Fundació La Marató de TV3, Núria Llorach, "awareness-raising and research in mental health are always essential, but after more than a year of pandemic, we are convinced that this Marató is now more necessary than ever and that is what we are told by the experts, who have observed the great impact of the pandemic in this area of health, especially in young people. "

This year, ICFOnians launched a number of activities which contributed over €2,300 to the €9 million+ funds that have been raised so far for La Marató.

Recap of 2021 activities organized by ICFOnians:

• Workshops on Hennah, Kokedamas and Origami organized by and for ICFOnians during November and December not only raised funds, they also allowed ICFOnians to share their skills and hobbies and provided a meeting point for ICFOnians to gather after work and disconnect with creative activities.
• Over 40 ICFO photographers submitted their work for the first ICFO Photo Contest. The 12 most voted pictures where included in a calendar whose proceeds went towards the ICFO la Marató collection.
• ICONS Social Glühwein
• Bake Sale
• Hiking activity at Siurana
• Holiday raffle
• ICFO-UPC-PMT Charity run that took place in Castelldefels last Sunday 19

More than 140 ICFOnians came together to participate in la Marató activitities.
