One postdoc, Dr. Johann Toudert, , one research engineer, Carles Monasterio, two Ph.D. students, Albert Aloy, and Maria Sanz, and one KTT Project Manager, Alba Rosado, have joined ICFO in the month of December.

Johann Toudert obtained his PhD in Physics/Materials Science from the University of Poitiers, France in 2005 and now is joining the Organic Nanostructured Photovoltaics research group led by UPC Prof. Jordi Martorell as a research fellow. At the institute, he will be coordinating ICFO’s participation in the GLAM project.

Carles Monasterio, who received his MSc degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology from the University of Barcelona, is now joining the Nano-optoelectronics research group led by ICREA Prof. at ICFO Frank Koppens as a research engineer. At ICFO, he will be working mainly on research and development of Graphene Photodetectors.

Albert Aloy received his MSc in Photonics from the joint Photonics program of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, University of Barcelona, Polytechnic University of Catalonia and ICFO, joins the Quantum Optics Theory research group led by ICREA Prof. at ICFO Maciej Lewenstein as a PhD student. At ICFO, he will focus his PhD studies on subjects and topics related to quantum information theory.

Maria Sanz, who obtained her MSc in Photonics at Friedrich-Schiller-Universitat Jena in Germany, is now joining the Single Molecule Biophotonics research group led by ICREA Prof. at ICFO Maria García-Parajo as a new PhD student. Maria will be working on the development and application of 2D photonic antennas for monitoring the dynamics of individual proteins on living cells.

Alba Rosado, who received her MSc degree in Telecommunication Engineering & Management – MASTEAM from the Technical University of Catalonia, is now joining the KTT unit as a Project Manager to work in various industrial projects, specifically those related to graphene.
