Diversity and Inclusion

Diversity, along with respect for others and scientific rigor, is one of ICFO’s core values. For this reason, the Gender Committee was created with the mandate to address discrimination and bias, and create an inclusive environment where all staff and students can thrive and fully participate in all the institute’s activities.

Realizing that gender is only one part of the diversity and inclusion conversation that effects the experience of all ICFOnians, the Gender Committee has formally evolved into the Diversity and Inclusion Committee to better represent all of ICFO.

With its expanded scope, the initiatives that the committee will promote will include those related to gender such as activities organized in the framework of the annual ICFOnians for Women in Science Month. Additionally, the committee will implement activities that promote awareness and inclusion of the LGTBIQ community and people with disabilities, as well as other future activities addressing different approaches to diversity in a broad sense.

By respecting and promoting diversity of cultures, origins, gender, age, professional backgrounds, sexual orientations, identities, and approaches to problems, we seek to cultivate a working environment that supports the advancement of complex scientific challenges through the contributions of our broad and inclusive community.
