ICFO @ GRAPCHINA 2015

From October 28-30th, ICFO participated in the 2nd Edition of the International Graphene Innovation Conference

November 03, 2015
Last week, ICFO participated in the 2015’ International Graphene Innovation Conference (GRAPCHINA 2015), an annual event that aims at addressing practical and legislative issues concerning Graphene Investment and Commercialization assessment and procurement.

GRAPCHINA is an important trade show and academic event held every year and it seeks to be one of the ultimate meeting platforms for sharing and exchanging experiences for the advancement of graphene.

With the main theme centered on “Solutions for commercialization of graphene”, this year Prof. at ICFO Frank Koppens was invited to give a talk on “Prototype demonstrators of graphene photodetector applications and future prospects” to an audience of more than 1000 representatives from the industrial, academic and commercial fields worldwide as well as senior policy makers from the EU‘s flagship program and national government.

In his talk, Prof. Koppens made reference to and showed ICFO prototype demonstrators, developed by ICFOnians Eric Puma, Gabriele Navickaite, Juan José Piqueras, Tania Lasanta and Stijn Goossens, of several graphene-based photo-detection applications such as a wearable health monitors that are flexible and transparent, and fully integrated with hybrid graphene quantum dot detectors. The work presented by Prof. Koppens is being carried out at ICFO in collaboration with the Functional Optoelectronic Nanomaterials research group led by Prof. at ICFO Gerasimos Konstantatos, specialist in quantum dot otpoelectronics research, and the Medical Optics research group led by Prof at ICFO Turgut Durduran, who specializes in biophotonics for pre-clinical and clinical bio-medicine.
