Five new ICFOnians joined the different ICFO research groups, units and facilities during the month of August. Welcome aboard!

One visiting PhD student, Alvaro Cuevas, one postdoctoral researcher, Alberto Figueroba, two visiting students, Nathan Day and Tymoteusz Salamon, and one member of Management, Andre Guedes, have joined ICFO in the month of August.
Alvaro Cuevas, who holds a Master’s degree in Physics from the Universidad de Concepción, Chile, and is now pursuing a PhD degree in the Sapienza University of Rome, is coming to ICFO to join the Quantum Information with Cold Atoms and Non-classical Light research group led by ICREA prof. at ICFO Morgan Mitchell as a visiting PhD student. At ICFO, he will be working on squeezed light generation for atomic physics experiments.
Alberto Figueroba, who holds a PhD in Physics from the Universitat de Barcelona, is joining the Functional Optoelectronic Nanomaterials research group led by ICREA prof. at ICFO Gerasimos Konstantatos as a postdoctoral fellow. His main task will be working on computational modelling of nanomaterials for energy.
Nathan Day, who is pursuing an MSc from the Birkbeck University of London, is joining the Neurophotonics and Mechanical Systems Biology research group led by ICFO prof. Michael Krieg as a visiting student. At ICFO he will be working on expansions microscopy.
Tymoteusz Salamon, who is pursuing an MSc degree in Physics from the ULM University, is joining the Quantum Optics Theory research group led by ICREA Prof. at ICFO Maciej Lewenstein as a visiting student. At ICFO, he will be participating in the research projects of the group on many body systems and quantum information theory.
Andre Guedes holds a PhD degree in Physics Engineering from the University of Lisbon, and now is joining the KTT unit as a business developer. He will be working closely with the Plasmon Nano-optics research group.
