New ICFOnians

Five new ICFOnians joined the different ICFO research groups, units and facilities during the month of August. Welcome aboard!

September 12, 2019

One visiting scientist, one postdoctoral researcher, one PhD student, one visiting PhD student, and one student have joined ICFO during the month of August.

Gemma Bale, who holds a 2016 PhD from University College London, UK, and is now working in its Biomedical Optics Research Laboratory, is coming to ICFO as a visiting scientist at the Medical Optics research group led by ICREA prof. at ICFO Turgut Durduran. At ICFO she will be working on MRC project device assembly.

Klara Theophilo holds a 2015 PhD in Physics from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and is now joining the Quantum Photonics with Solids and Atoms research group led by ICREA prof. at ICFO Hugues de Riedmatten as a postdoctoral researcher. Her main tasks will involve working in quantum optics with laser cooled atoms.

Nima Taghipour, who obtained an MSc in Photonics Engineering at the University of Tabriz, Iran, is coming to ICFO to join the Functional Optoelectronic Nanomaterials research group led by ICREA Prof. at ICFO Gerasimos Konstantatos as a PhD student. His position will allow him to work on infrared ASE and lasing from colloidal quantum dots

Vinicius Salem, who holds a 2017 MSC in Physics from the Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa, Brazil, and is now pursuing a PhD degree there, is coming to ICFO as a visiting PhD student at the Quantum Information Theory research group led by ICREA prof. at ICFO Antonio Acín. At ICFO he will be working on quantum information protocols and networks.

Rajashree Haldankar, who is pursuing an MSc in Photonics from the Erasmus Mundus Europhotonics Program, is coming to ICFO as a student at the Quantum NanoMechanics research group led by ICFO prof. Adrian Bachtold. At ICFO she will be working on nanotube hybrid cantilever.
