CSIC Honors Scientific Excellence at its Annual Awards Ceremony
ICFO postdoctoral researcher Luciano Iván Pereira Valenzuela is recognized by CSIC for his outstanding doctoral thesis.
On October 9th, 2025, the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) held the ceremony for the 3rd edition of the Relevant Doctoral Thesis Awards, the 3rd edition of the Margarita Salas Medals, and the 2nd edition of the María Moliner Awards for outstanding thesis supervision. The event, organized by the CSIC’s Department of Postgraduate and Specialization, celebrated excellence in research, mentorship, and scientific training.
During the opening remarks, José María Martell, Vice President for Scientific and Technical Research, emphasized the importance of recognizing young researchers and supervisors as key drivers of scientific progress and talent development.
Among the 20 researchers honored with the Relevant Doctoral Thesis Awards, Luciano Iván Pereira Valenzuela, postdoctoral researcher at ICFO – The Institute of Photonic Sciences, was recognized for his exceptional doctoral work carried out at the Institute of Fundamental Physics (IFF-CSIC). His research stood out for its scientific impact and contribution to advancing the characterization of quantum technologies.
With the celebration of these distinctions, CSIC reaffirms its commitment to excellence, learning, and lifelong scientific education, strengthening its role not only as a generator of knowledge but also as a promoter of future generations of researchers.
