ARA Ignasi Pujol Award
ICFO recognized for promoting Entrepreneurship
November 03, 2015
Coinciding with the celebration of its fifth anniversary, the newspaper ARA and “La Caixa” Foundation confer the ARA Awards to two people or entities which uphold the ideals of two former members of the newspapers’s team who lost their lives to cancer in 2014.
In recognition of ICFO’s work in research, training and technology transfer to the industrial sector, the institute was presented with the Ignasi Pujol Award for promoting Entrepreneurship. This award is given in remembrance of the former head of the Economy section of the newspaper. Receiving this award on behalf of all ICFOnians, ICFO Director Lluis Torner thanked the organizers for this honor. He especially remembered and underscored the rigor and professionalism which Ignasi Pujol demonstrated throughout his career. Maravillas Rojo was also given an honorable mention for her career in the promotion of entrepreneurship and work in economic development, employment, trade, tourism and innovation.
The Tatiana Sisquella award, given in memory of the late columnist whose work was devoted to social issues, was given to the NGO Pallapupas, (loosely translated as “Ouch” Clowns). This organization was recognized for its work for the humanization of the hospitalization process, using humor as an essential tool to help children, the elderly and people with mental illnesses to cope with the difficulties during their illnesses.
The emotive award ceremony took place at the Palau de la Música Catalana on Monday, 2 November.
