Device-independent quantum information processing is a new approach in quantum information theory in which information protocols are designed in such a way that their performance is independent of the internal working of the devices used in the implementation. This device-independence property makes them especially appealing in cryptographic applications. The scope of the talk is to present an overview on the device-independent scenario, with an emphasis on key distribution and randomness generation.
