CLEMENS GNEITING 'Revealing Entanglement in Spatial Interference'

CLEMENS GNEITING 'Revealing Entanglement in Spatial Interference'

CLEMENS GNEITING
Seminar, April 24, 2012, 12:00. Seminar Room
CLEMENS GNEITING Institute of Physics
Albert-Ludwigs University of Freiburg, GERMANY
Similar to single-particle interference experiments, one can establish bipartite entanglement in the motion of material particles by means of nonlocal spatial interference. I introduce a natural class of non-Gaussian states which yields such nonlocal interference patterns. In one scenario, the underlying entanglement is verified by violation of a suitable separability criterion. The latter is formulated in terms of modular variables, a concept adapted to interference phenomena and thus capable to capture the expressed correlations. In a second scenario, the correlations give rise to the violation of a Bell inequality. I finally discuss possible experimental implementations.
