LAURA WALLER 'Computational wave-field imaging'

LAURA WALLER 'Computational wave-field imaging'

LAURA WALLER
Seminar, March 19, 12.00. Seminar Room
LAURA WALLER
Nonlinear Photonics group, Department of Electrical Engineering
University of Princeton, USA
Digital cameras revolutionized photography, allowing us to interface cameras with computers. The next generation of cameras will integrate the computer as part of the imaging system itself, with algorithms replacing optical elements such as lenses and filters. This talk will describe new methods of computational imaging for phase retrieval, phase-space optics and nonlinear imaging. All of these techniques use partially coherent light, whose wave-fields are inherently richer than coherent (laser) light, having many more degrees-of-freedom. Measurement and control of such high dimensional beams will allow new applications in biophysics, nonlinear dynamics, and imaging with high noise or scattering.
