The combination of quantum optics, which investigates the noise statistics of light with atom optics, which allows the cooling and trapping of atoms and Bose Einstein condensation allows us more and detailed experiments in fundamental physics. The talk presents recent experimental achievements in the Australian Centre of Excellence for Quantum-Atom Optics (ACQAO), and will include the generation of spatial multi mode optical entanglement, the improvement of atom lasers in Rb and He and the generation of degenerate Li gases. This talk will summarize the activities of our Centre and some of our plans for the future.
