We review our latest results in engineering entangled-photon states with particular spatial, spectral, and polarization characteristics. The existence of such specialty states helps improving significantly performance of such modern technologies as quantum cryptography, quantum ellipsometry, and quantum optical coherence tomography. We discuss potential benefits these new quantum technologies can provide in optical telecommunication and in biophotonics.
