AD-HOC L4H SEMINAR: Review on muscle hemodynamics and vascular adaptations to exercise

Hour: From 10:00h to 11:00h

Place: SMR

AD-HOC L4H SEMINAR: Review on muscle hemodynamics and vascular adaptations to exercise

SILVIA ORTEGA-CEBRIÁN
Professor Ajudant Doctor
Physiotherapy, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Universitat Internacional de Catalunya

Muscle function is related to movement and exercise in different levels and populations.  The principal muscle, the heart, creates the mechanical stimuli to develop a rapid blood flow within the blood vessels. The mechanical force originated by the heart is associated with flowing blood that would characterise hemodynamic forces. Recent research has also taken endothelium in a strategic place between flowing blood and artery walls, which are crucial for hemodynamic in the muscle. The session will focus on a broad view in hemodynamic in the muscle, its understanding and the evidence in muscle blood irrigation in different populations and different types of exercises.
