Hour: From 15:00h to 16:00h
Place: Seminar Room
SEMINAR: From entangled photons to levitated particles
In this talk, I will present the activities of the Quantum Nanophotonics Laboratory at Donostia, in the Materials Physics Centre. Here, we work on a series of experiments with the common aim of exploring the boundaries of classical and quantum physics. We study the scattering of light from small particles and use, for that purpose, both classical and quantum sources of light. I will also present our efforts in controlling the electronic and nuclear spin of Nitrogen Vacancy centers in diamond. Finally, I will also show how the optical trapping and levitation of small particles can be used as quantum enhanced inertial sensors. Overall, our experiments in fundamental science find applications in quantum technologies, such as quantum computing, communications and sensing.
