In the years to come, the largest growth of interconnections ever reported should be expected with a significant increase of bandwidth demand. To sustain this evolutionary path, graphene based technology can bring a new historical perspective for low cost and energy efficient optics. The achievable innovation in 5G networks with the introduction of graphene based photonics can push the capabilities of communications far beyond what is currently possible. The seminar aims to describe the opportunities for a virtuous cycle in the Telecom and Datacom world catching the wave of graphene technology.
