Michel Foucault and Judith Butler famously showed how discursive practices shape society and the categories of sex and gender. Karen Barad takes this further by incorporating the role of matter and its inextricability from discourse.
We will explore Barad's concept of material-discursive practices, how they appear in physics, and how they shape the world. This talk aims to open a conversation on the feasibility of implementing such practices in daily scientific work, encouraging us to question our current methods and imagine new ones.
