SEMINAR: The KiQQer Demonstrator Roadmap – Bridging Quantum Network Gaps with European Technology

GUSTAVO CASTRO DO AMARAL
TNO

Research and Technology Organizations (RTOs) such as TNO face the challenge to cover the so-called “TRL gap”, enabling fundamental research to positively impact society. Quantum technologies pose an even greater challenge due to the current scarcity of market, configuring a tech-push effort. Recently, TNO has initiated the KiQQer Demonstrator Roadmap, with the goal of showcasing applications of quantum networks already available to users. The first project in the Roadmap, KiQQer V1, demonstrated hybrid free-space/fibre entanglement distribution in a metropolitan scenario with off-the-shelf components, and many more projects are under execution or in proposal phase following its success. In this talk, I will introduce the KiQQer Demonstrator Roadmap, present the European quantum ecosystem TNO envisions, and highlight the importance of pioneering research institutions such as ICFO in its execution.

Hosted by Prof. Dr. Hugues de Riedmatten
