Hour: From 16:00h to 17:00h
Place: Sofa Area - Café de la Llum
ALUMNI COFFEE SESSION: Collective phenomena, in physics and life
In this seminar, I will discuss my journey from a PhD student and postdoc at ICFO to my current role as an Associate Professor at Columbia. I will offer a perspective on how to navigate the differences between European and US academic cultures and on how to build an identity as an independent scientist. I will discuss some of the challenges of a professor: from securing funding to the human challenge of hiring, mentoring, and leading a group of students and postdocs.
