My lab is focused on revealing the structure, the dynamics and the functions of our cell membranes. To this end we use super-resolution STED-microscopy to resolve membrane complexes with a close to molecular resolution. We combine STED with fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (STED-FCS) to capture fast diffusion dynamics of lipids and proteins in the membrane. And we use in vitro membrane reconstitutions to compare live cell data to simple model systems. In this presentation I will give an overview about the methods and show our latest results on the supra-molecular structure of cell adhesion junctions.
