ICFO Distinguished Invited Professor
Google Quantum AI scientist Dr Guifré Vidal appointed ICFO DIP
Dr Guifré Vidal Bonafont is a world-renowned scientist in Quantum Physics and Quantum Information, fields in which some of his published work is among the most cited and influential in the world. He is one of the pioneers and leading experts in the techniques of tensor networks (MPS, PEPS, MERA) to study many-body quantum systems. Recently, he has also worked on repurposing Google’s Tensor Processing Units for Computational Quantum Chemistry and Materials Science.
A graduate and PhD from the University of Barcelona, he has enjoyed prestigious appointments at the University of Innsbruck, the California Institute of Technology, the University of Queensland, and the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, among others. He currently works as a Research Scientist at Google.
