Joan Oró Grants

ICFO receives three new grants for predoctoral training

The Generalitat de Catalunya and the Agència de Gestió d'Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca (AGAUR), with financing from the European Social Fund Plus (FSE+) helps to support ICFO’s mission to train the next generation of scientists and technologists. We are pleased to announce that ICFO has received  three new Joan Oró grants for the recruitment of pre-doctoral research staff in training , contributing to promote the training and research activity of hired research staff and to increase their qualification and professionalization during the initial phases of their research career. This is fundamental for the generation of frontier knowledge in research and its transfer to society.

The new grant awardees are:

  • Júlia Barberà Rodríguez, in the Quantum Information Theory group led by ICREA professor at ICFO Dr. Antonio Acín  (Ref 2024 FI-100096) 
  • Georgina Tresanchez Lacorte, in the Medical Optics group led by ICREA professor at ICFO Dr. Turgut Durduran (Ref 2024 FI-100068) 
  • Elsa Vázquez Rodríguez, in the Quantum NanoElectronics and NanoMechanics group led by ICFO professor Dr. Adrian Bachtold  (Ref 2024 FI-100011) 

 

We are also pleased to announce that six grants awarded to the following research in previous calls have been renewed:

  • Sidney Mendoza Palardonio, in the Organic Nanostructured Photovoltaics group led by UPC professor at ICFO Dr. Jordi Martorell (Ref 2024 FI-3 00390) 
  • Pavel Peychev Popov, in the Quantum Optics Theory group led by ICREA professor at ICFO Dr. Maciej Lewenstein (Ref 2024 FI-3 00394) 
  • Adamantios Synanidis, in the Nanophotonics Theory group led by ICREA professor at ICFO Dr. Javier García (Ref 2024 FI-2 00052) 
  • Jonathan Hänni, in the Quantum Photonics with Solids and Atoms group led by ICREA professor at ICFO Dr. Hugues de Riedmatten (Ref 2024 FI-2 00059) 
  • Lukas Wangler, in the Theoretical Quantum-NanoPhotonics group led by ICREA professor at ICFO Dr. Darrick Chang (Ref  2024 FI-2 00716) 
  • Maria Recasens Esparraguera, in the Quantum Optics Theory group led by ICREA professor at ICFO Dr. Maciej Lewenstein (Ref 2024 FI-2 00017)
