LuxQuanta Wins Europe’s Top Startup Award at GITEX EUROPE 2025
ICFO’s spin-off company LuxQuanta wins the Startup Award at GITEX, the world's largest and most collaborative tech event in Europe with the mission to create synergies and drive Europe's digital economy forward.
This week, LuxQuanta was selected as the winner of the GITEX Supernova All-Stars start-up award. The GITEX Supernova All-Stars is fast becoming a benchmark event for identifying not only Europe’s most promising startups and business models, but also serving as a launchpad for the continent’s next wave of unicorn Start-ups.
Hosted in Berlin, this trade show is dedicated at bridging and uniting big tech, startups, and SMBs from across Europe and beyond, forging powerful relationships that unlock collaborative opportunities, connections that aim to spark innovation.
After being selected as a semi-finalist candidate from a pool of more than 700 companies, Vanesa Díaz, CEO of LuxQuanta, was given the opportunity to deliver a 2-minute pitch where over 100 startups competed for a spot in the grand finale.
As one of the finalists and in front of a jury of top-tier angel investors and deep-tech experts who carefully assessed the quality of each pitch and the strength of the underlying business models, Díaz summarized the company’s journey once again, in just two minutes. She highlighted LuxQuanta’s mission to secure digital communications, the recent launch of the second generation of NOVA LQ, the challenges ahead, and most importantly, the incredible team that pushes this technology forward.
Winning this prize “is a true testament to all the hard work we have put into this project. It’s been four years of relentless effort, resilience, and enthusiasm.” Díaz emphasized as she expressed the company’s commitment to being a reliable provider of cybersecurity solutions in the quantum era.
The recognition at GITEX Europe positions LuxQuanta on the international stage, attracting attention from investors, industry leaders and potential collaborators. A critical step in supporting the company’s mission to bring Quantum-Safe Security to businesses and institutions worldwide.
LuxQuanta is ICFO’s tenth spin-off company. Constituted in May 2021, it focuses on the development and commercialization of quantum key distribution systems (QKD) for cryptography, including continuous variable quantum key distribution systems, to implement an extra layer of security services for companies and network infrastructures both in the public and private sectors.
As Silvia Carrasco, Vice Director of Innovation, Sponsored Research and Public Engagement at ICFO, concludes, “We feel deeply proud and inspired to see LuxQuanta receive this well-deserved recognition. It reflects the company’s technological excellence and the remarkable team behind it. Seeing their work acknowledged on the global stage reinforces the impact of science-driven entrepreneurship.”
