Morgan Mitchell and Mario Napolitano honored for their work on the Heisenberg Limit.

In a ceremony held at La Pedrera and surrounded by a “who’s who” of scientists and supporters of science from the Spanish community, ICREA Prof. at ICFO Morgan Mitchell and Mario Napolitano, were honored with the Vanguard Award for Science (Premio Vanguardia de la Ciencia) for their accomplishments in breaking the “unbreakable” Heisenberg Limit.
The award, in its second edition, is a joint initiative between the Godó Group and CatalunyaCaixa. Its objective is to give increased visibility to cutting edge research being carried out in Spain. In keeping with this mission, the organizers have recognized a select group of eight noteworthy research accomplishments from 2011 where the director or first author of the research was permanently based at a research center in this country.
The three most voted finalists were honored at this ceremony at the Pedrera, with the first award going to Carlos López-Otín and Elías Camp from IDIBAPS (Hospital Clínic) , the second to ICFO’s Morgan Mitchell and Mario Napolitano, and the third to Jordi Bascompte from the Doñana Biological Station- CSIC.
Congratulations to all of the researchers who were recognized for their accomplishments through this award, and thanks to Grupo Godó and CatalunyCaixa who demonstrate on an ongoing basis their support for research excellence in Spain.
