ICFO salutes a tireless advocate for research and science

ICFO joins the family of Charles Vest and all of the MIT community in mourning the death of a remarkable leader and person.
The ICFO community had the honor of welcoming Dr. Vest as the keynote speaker in the institute’s 10th Anniversary celebration and inauguration of the Cellex NEST building. In his address, he offered important reflections on the central role of science and learning institution in society. He was a dedicated advocate of science and engineering throughout his remarkable career which included 14 years as the president of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His achievements are many and varied, but in his own words, “of all the extraordinary experience in my career, I have valued most the opportunity to serve and represent the remarkable people and activities of MIT as its president”.
