Nature Publishing Index 2013 Global Top 200
Nature acknowledges ICFO as a global leader
April 03, 2014
The new edition of the Nature Publishing Index Global Ranking has just been released, positioning ICFO - The Institute of Photonic Sciences - as one of the finest research institutions in the world. Spain has two entries in the ranking, ICFO and the Spanish Research Council (CSIC), the largest institution dedicated to research in the country. When compared with institutions of its size, ICFO ranks among the very best in the world. This acknowledgement of ICFO’s highest international status has also been substantiated by the recent new release of the "Mapping Scientific Excellence" ranking, which confirmed ICFO’s standing among the top worldwide institutions in terms of quality of research publications.
The Nature Publishing Index is a global overview of research outputs of institutions based on the tracking of the number of articles published in Nature journals. Created in 2009, it publishes annual rankings that allow tracking publication outputs by institution (universities, government research institutes and private sector companies) and by country. Nature’s Index measures absolute values, i.e. total number of Nature publications per year, thus putting large entities with multiple institutes at an obvious advantage. ICFO’s inclusion underscores a rhythm of publishing research excellence which can be found in only a handful of research centers in the world.
