September 05, 2014
ICFO announces the closing ceremony and concert of the Illuminating Curiosity and Light on the Waves (of the Sea) scientific contests, taking place September 29th and October 10th respectively.
Illuminating Curiosity is a contest aimed at rewarding creativity and the communication of ideas that answer the questions posed by nine celebrities. The contest’s objective was to catch the attention of those with an inquisitive and creative spirit and encourage them to submit a creative, engaging, original video that could respond to the curiosities presented by these celebrities. More than 1000 participants presented over 170 videos, where 5 were selected as winners of the different categories and 8 received a special mention.
The Light on the Waves (of the Sea) is a literary contest aimed at bringing together science, music and literature all in the same event, by motivating high school students and the general public to think and write poems or short stories related to light. In its third edition, more than 100 poems and stories were presented, where 7 of them were chosen and made into songs by different Catalan music groups. The final concert is a culmination point where the winning students have the opportunity to listen and see how their winning lyrics have become the pillar element in the creation of these songs, beautiful pieces of music focused on light and its nature.
Illuminating Curiosity will host its final ceremony on September 29th at the Poliorama Theater of Barcelona at 6:00pm. The contest and ceremony have been coordinated by Míriam Martí, of the KTT unit. If you would like to attend the event, please send an email to outreach@icfo.eu.
Already in its 3rd edition, the Light on the Waves (of the Sea) concert will take place October 10th at the “Sala Teatre” of the CCCB-Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona at 7:00pm. The contest and concert have been coordinated by Marta García Matos, of the KTT unit. If you would like to attend the event, please send an email to lallumalesones@icfo.es
We hope to see you there!
