The 2nd Edition of Illuminating Curiosity begins
9 celebrities, 6 questions about light, a challenge for everyone...

Have you ever wondered: Why sunsets are red? Why do we see the sky brighter below the rainbow than above it? In which situations light acts as a wave and in which as a particle? Why is an idea represented with a light bulb over our heads? Why do we sneeze when we look at the sun? Or, is it possible to eat light?
ICFO launches the second edition of Illuminating Curiosity, an audio-visual contest that intends to show that light is omnipresent in our daily lives and, invites anyone with an inquisitive and creative spirit to find the answers to these curiosities and explain them in a video.
The contest is organized by ICFO-the Institute of Photonic Sciences, with the objective of establishing a fun and creative encounter between society and photonic sciences. In this edition, the instigators of these curiosities are the doctor and researcher Dr. Bonaventura Clotet, the meteorologist Tomàs Molina, the musicians Els Catarres, the illustrator Pilarín Bayés, the actors Miki Esparbé and Paula Velez, and the chef Ferran Adrià. They present their questions about light through anecdotes and personal reflections, inviting us to answer them in the most curious, original, creative, innovative and funniest possible way.
The contest begins today, October 7th, and until April 7th participants will have time to send in their videos. Three age categories have been established:
• Red: participants up to 12 years
• Green: participants from 13 to 17 years
• Blue: participants over 18 years
During the period in which the competition is open, ICFO will organize activities and provide guidance and suggestions for the video production process. The members of the jury, which are professionals from the audio-visual, communication-journalism, scientific and educational fields will be in charge of choosing the winners. For each category, the winners will receive a monetary prize, will be invited to attend the final awards ceremony and meet the celebrities, among others awards.
