Nanolight Meeting at ICFO

The 1st annual meeting of the NanoLight.es CONSOLIDER program took place at ICFO.

March 02, 2009
ICFO was the venue of the 1st annual meeting of NanoLight.es (Light control on the nanoscale) on February 23rd. NanoLight is a CONSOLIDER program aimed at developing nanoscale light technology for applications in sensing, nanoimaging, optical circuitry and data storage: the key components of future information technology. 57 Participants from 10 research groups took part in the workshop, which included 10 presentations and 30 posters. The meeting was attended by the international NanoLight Scientific Advisory Board with members from England, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the USA. During the day, the Board evaluated the 1st round of planned collaboration projects.

This program is one of 29 large scale national projects funded in 2007 by the CONSOLIDER-Ingenio 2010 program, put forward by the Spanish Ministry for Science and Innovation (MICINN). Prof. Niek van Hulst, ICFO group leader, is the coordinator of the consortium. ICFO groups led by Prof. Romain Quidant and Prof. Jordi Martorell are also part of the consortium. In addition to ICFO, the project involves several CSIC (Scientific Research Superior Council) institutes in Madrid, Valencia, and Zaragoza, and groups at the Autonomous University of Madrid.
