Els investigadors postdoctorals vénen a l’ICFO per millorar la seva formació científica. Els contractes poden durar diversos anys. Els investigadors postdoctorals de l’ICFO poden ser designats becaris d’investigació o investigadors postdoctorals, depenent de l’antiguitat científica, l’experiència o les necessitats del projecte.

Els investigadors postdoctorals de l’ICFO s’integren en un grup i realitzen les seves activitats sota la supervisió del líder de grup corresponent. Quan finalitza la seva tasca postdoctoral a l’ICFO, els investigadors estan preparats per seguir avançant acadèmicament en una altra institució o per portar la seva experiència a la indústria.
