ICFO Students meet Merck

The transition from research to management was the main subject of the meeting between Dr. Michael Heckmeier and ICFO students at an ICONS Coffee Session. Dr. Heckmeier is Senior Director of Advanced Technologies at Merck Chemicals Ltd. ICONS Coffee Sessions are informal chats between ICFOnians and a senior visiting scientist, which are organized periodically by ICONS. Dr. Heckmeier explained how his career took him from the Physics Department in Freiburg to managing Merck's Organic Electronics Research Centre in Southampton. The subsequent discussion included topics like working as a scientist in the industry and having an internship in a state-of-the-art industrial lab.
