New researchers and a member of the Logistics
Unit have joined ICFO.

Four Visiting Scientists, Prof. Nicolas Godbout, Mr. Luis Crespo Fernández , Mr. Xu Wang and Mr. Soren Gammelmark; two Research Fellows, Dr. Pietro Massignan and Dr. Matteo Cristiani; one Postdoctoral Researcher, Dr. Johannes Johansson; one Research Engineer, Ms. Fiona Beck; one PhD Student, Mr. Igor Blanco; one Student, Mr. Abhinand Vijayan Sreelatha; and one member of the Logistics Unit, Mr. Adrián Guardia have joined ICFO.
Prof. Nicolas Godbout is Professor at the Department of Engineering Physics of the Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal, Canada, and co-director of the Fibre Optics Laboratory. He joins ICFO as a Visiting Scientist to work in the development of quantum optical sources in the group led by Prof. Morgan Mitchell.
Mr. Luis Crespo Fernández is a PhD student in Signal Theory and Communications at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, SPAIN. He joins ICFO as a Visiting Scientist at the group led by ICREA Professor Valerio Pruneri. Mr. Crespo will work in the integration of a deflector cell into a 3-D display.
Mr. Xu Wang is a PhD-candidate in Physics at the University of Rochester, USA. Mr. Wang is an expert in the description of high field trajectories of atomic electrons, and joins ICFO at the Attoscience and Ultrafast Optics Group led by ICREA Professor Jens Biegert as a Visiting Scientist.
Mr. Soeren Gammelmark is a PhD-student in Physics at Aarhus University, Denmark. He is visiting for 6 month from Klaus Moelmer group in Aahrus. Soeren will work on quantum many body systems, and in particular detection of entropy and entanglement in ultracold atomic gases as a Visiting Scientist in the group led by ICREA Professor Maciej Lewenstein.
Dr. Pietro Massignan rejoins ICFO after spending one year working at the group led by Prof. Anna Sanpera at UAB. He will continue his research on ultracold Fermi and Bose gases as a Research Fellow at the group led by ICREA Professor Maciej Lewenstein.
Dr. Matteo Cristiani holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Pisa, Italy. He has been Postdoctoral Researcher and Research Fellow in the group led by Prof. Juergen Eschner at ICFO. Dr. Cristiani joins now the group lead by ICREA Professor Hugues de Riedmatten as a Research Fellow. He will be in charge of the experiments on light matter quantum interfaces between single photons and single collective spin excitations in laser cooled atomic ensembles.
Dr. Johannes Johansonn obtained his PhD in Biomedical Instrumentation at Linköping University, Sweden. He joinsICFO as a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on collaborative projects with IDIBELL and ICFO at the Medical Optics Group led by Prof. Turgut Durduran.
Ms. Fiona Beck is a PhD-candidate in Physics at The Australian National University, Australia. She joins ICFO as a Research Engineer at the Nano-Photonic Devices group. She will work on plasmonically enhanced solution processed quantum dot optoelectronics.
Mr. Igor Blanco obtained his MSc in Photonics from ICFO/UAB. He joins ICFO as a PhD Student in the group led by Prof. Turgut Durduran to work on a joint project on optical monitoring for agricultural manufacturing.
Mr. Abhinand Vijayan Sreelatha is a Master-student in Photonics at the Cochin University of Science and Technology, India. He joins ICFO as a MSc Student at the group led by Prof. Turgut Durduran. He will work on the development of a frequency domain diffuse optical monitor.
Mr. Adrián Guardia joins the Facility Management unit as a Logistics Assistant. Adrian has worked part time in ICFO since last April. During these months he has showed an excellent competence in order to achieve the Facilities Management objectives. Now Adrian as a new ICFOnian with a whole day contract will help to improve and increase the services offered by the Logistics Unit.
