Electron Beam Spectroscopy for Nanophotonics 2025
The workshop will focus on the rapidly growing field of electron beam spectroscopies for nanophotonics, driven by advances in microscopy and the development of novel techniques. To further push this field, it is essential to consolidate and expand a strong community of active researchers.
This event is part of a biannual workshop series that began in Amsterdam in 2014, with subsequent editions held in Sitges (2017), Orsay (2019), Kiel (online, 2021), and Antwerp (2023). We aim to bring together leading experts in free-electron spectroscopies, ultrafast microscopy, and more generally, the use of free electrons to explore new phenomena at ever-smaller spatial and temporal scales.
We are planning a 2.5-day format, starting on October 29 at 9:00 am and concluding on October 31 at 13:30, with ample time allocated for discussion. The program will include 16 invited talks (40 minutes each) and 14 contributed talks (20 minutes each).
Invited speakers:
- Peter Baum, Universität Konstanz
- Saskia Fiedler, AMOLF
- Philipp Haslinger, Technische Universität Wien
- Jan-Wilke Henke, Max Planck Institute
- Demie Kepaptsoglou, University of York
- Mathieu Kociak, Université Paris-Saclay, CNRS

Venue:
ICFO – the Institute of Photonic Sciences, is a young research institution that aims to advance the very limits of the science and technology of light, tackling important challenges faced by society at large in all areas of life, including health, energy, information, safety, security and caring for the environment. ICFO is a member of BIST, the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology. More information about ICFO can be found here.
ICFO does not tolerate any type of conduct or behavior considered harassment or bullying and has clearly defined policies against it.
